Planning a trip to Nantucket this summer? We’re fortunate to have a number of beautiful bike trails in our area to enjoy! Be sure to take a ride on a few of these popular trails while you’re visiting.
Milestone Cranberry Bogs Trail
Many visitors come to Nantucket without getting to experience our area’s cranberry bogs, and we think that’s a shame. This bike trail features great views of the bogs, and it offers several flexible options for cyclists who want to take easier or harder routes. You may want to ride a mountain bike or beach cruiser, however, because this is largely a sandy trail.
‘Sconset Bike Path
Siasconset (locally known as ‘Sconset) is a beautiful village on the eastern edge of Nantucket Island. Ride your bike there to enjoy beautiful bluffs and beaches, charming lanes lined with rose-covered cottages and the Sankaty Head Lighthouse. The path begins about a mile from the center of Nantucket Town.
The Triple Crown
If you’re up for a longer ride, enjoy this 15-mile pedal that takes you on a tour of Nantucket Harbor, Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. If you’re feeling too tired to cycle back, just take the bus—all buses are equipped with bike racks.
Surfside Beach
Take an easy three-mile ride down to Surfside Beach, one of the island’s most popular destinations. You’ll find dunes, white sand, a small snack bar and fantastic surf fishing.
Didn’t bring wheels of your own? Not to worry! You can rent a bike or scooter from Nantucket Bike Shop. If the bike you brought needs a quick tune-up, we also do repairs. Then choose a trail and get ready to savor Nantucket’s beautiful seaside scenery while cruising around on two wheels.
