Things to Do During the Spring in Nantucket

A bunch of bikes lined up by a pier in Nantucket

Nantucket is a beautiful place to visit throughout its season, but spring has its own unique charm. We’ve recently shed the layers that become necessary during the brutal Northeast winter and the island comes to life again. Still, it’s peaceful and not nearly as busy as it gets in the summer and fall months.

If you’re considering a spring visit to Nantucket, there are plenty of fun things to do. Here are just a few of them:

The Daffodil Festival

The 47th edition of this festival will take place on Nantucket in 2023, taking place in the last weekend of April as it always does. The Daffodil Festival is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of another joyous season on the island. The festival features an antique car parade, a tailgate picnic in Siasconset Village, a Children’s Bike Parade, Daffy Hat Parade, and Daffodil Dog Parade, among many other events at local shops, restaurants and businesses.

Easter

Easter Sunday, which is April 9 this year, is always before the “season” truly begins on the island. It’s a more low-key affair than other spring and summer events. Still, with it taking place a few weeks into spring, there are sure to be folks around. Visitors can enjoy various Easter deals along with celebrations at local restaurants and egg hunts for children, among other fun activities.

Food and Wine Festival

This celebration has been going on for around a quarter century now and it continues to grow each year. It will take place May 17-21 in 2023. Guest should buy tickets beforehand to enjoy wine tastings, as well as expert pairings of win with both lunch and dinner. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about wine, you’ll have the chance to do so with experts of the craft.
